IN CASE OF ILLNESS

It’s worth bringing some medicines from Poland with you, e.g. for cold, flu, pain, runny nose or cough. However, it’s not going to protect you against illness so if you feel sick, the first thing you should do is to call your teacher. He/she will tell you what to do in such a situation (who you should call, where to go). Remember that you have health insurance, so when you are sick don’t wait until you are back to Poland. And if you feel so bad that you can’t go to work but still not so bad to go to the doctor, call your teacher and he/she will tell you what to do.

CLIMATE

English people differ from polish people in the way they are heating the houses (our host had radiators but they were always cold) so you should prepare for a low temperatures during the night. We suggest that you should take warm pyjamas and socks to not freeze during the night. English people got used to to such temperatures but for you it will be too cold. During the day the outside temperature is higher than in Poland, so don’t expect the winter because it doesn’t snow there, not to mention freezing temperatures. However, you should remember that the United Kingdom is rainy land and it’s worth to take umbrella and raincoat.

CONTACT

It’s a crucial point for a people going abroad, including apprentices. It’s important to have fully charged mobile phone when you are in Poland but while you are abroad it is the most important thing. You never know what may happen and that is why you should always have your mobile phone and the list of the most important contacts with you. In case you are lost, you don’t know how to get somewhere, you have some problems or you feel sick and you are in the center or just somewhere away from home, it’s good to have phone number to the people you live with or what is the most important, to your teachers. You should take into account the fact that if you want to make a call when you are abroad, you need to activate roaming. You need to also know that package of minutes that you bought in Poland won’t be valid abroad so you should buy a telephone card when you are in England.

LONDON

The trip to London was great but during such a tour you should remember about a few things. Namely: London is the very crowded city (really, really crowded) so is’s easy to lost yourself and you need to be careful. After all, there are many opportunities to take the pictures so you should charge your phone or camera before the trip or to take a powerbank if you have one. REMEMBER! Pickpockets are everywhere and Englan is not an exception. Watch out your bags, backpacks and phones.

CULTURE

During a stay in England you will certainly notice the cultural differences, especially in speaking. Tray to use the words like thank you or sorry as often as it is possible because they really value politeness. When people get in the buses, they always say good morning, good evening or just hi. Your teacher will probably tell you about it but it’s better to know it earlier to prepare yourself. Your host will probably give you the basic information, e.g. what time is a dinner. Try to inform your family when you are not going to be at dinner.

The most important are documents!
You have to watch them like a hawk.
You can not be beaten and especially in London or at the airport.

If we had any problems, concerns, we always need teachers,
